【写道-shado-について】
これからの「写道-shado-」について、私たちは話し合い、意見を交わしながら、グループのあり方を見直しました。たどり着いたのは“本当に大切にしたいことは性別ではなく、写真そのものだ”というシンプルな答えです。
「写道-shado-」は、ストリートフォトを起点に、自分たちの写真表現を追求するフォトグラファーの集まりです。当初は「女性だけ」のグループとして活動していましたが、その枠を取り払い、これからは性別を問わず写真表現を追求していきます。
一方でストリートフォトの世界に女性が少ないのは確かです。だからこそ私たちはこれからも女性を応援し、女性たちが写真に対して一歩踏み出すきっかけにもなれるよう、開かれた場であり続けたいと考えています。
「写道-shado-」は、表現したいという衝動を大切にしながら、写真の可能性を広げていく場所です。

「写道-shado-」の「写」（sha）は「写す」（写真を撮る）という意味、「道」（do）は、日本語において特有な概念や哲学を表す言葉です。日本の武道（例えば「柔道」など）や芸道は、「道」（do）を実践することで、技術や表現力の向上に加え、身体的・精神的な成長や調和を追求し、個人の内面や心の豊かさを育むことを目指しています。
また、「道」（do）にはストリートという意味もあります。
私たちはストリートフォトグラファーを起点とするグループとして、「写道」（shado）を極めていきたいと思っています。

【写道-shado- overview】
After thoughtful conversations and open dialogue, we took the time to reflect on what Shado truly represents. We came to a simple but important realization: what matters most is not gender, but the act of creating through photography.
Shado is a collective of photographers who use street photography as a starting point to explore and deepen their personal visual expression. While we originally began as a women-only group, we’ve now opened our doors to anyone who shares a passion for street photography, regardless of gender.
We recognize that women remain underrepresented in the street photography scene. Because of that, we still hope to be a welcoming and inspiring space—especially for women—who are ready to take their first step into this world.
Shado is a place for those driven by the urge to express, drawn to life on the streets, and eager to explore the creative possibilities of photography together.

The "sha"(写) in "写道-shado-" means to take a picture. And "do" (道) is a word for a concept or philosophy that is unique to the Japanese language.
Japanese martial arts (e.g. Judo) and Geido aim to develop the individual's inner self and spiritual richness through the practice of "do" (道), which, in addition to improving technique and expression, pursues physical and mental growth and harmony.
The word 'do' (道) also means street.
We are a collective of street photographers, dedicated to exploring and refining our unique path—Shado.
